How To Make Crispy, Delicious Fried Tofu For A Protein And Texture Boost (4 Ingredients)

Picture this. You pop an unassuming cubes of fried tofu in your mouth. All at once, you get crunch, saltiness, and an unexpected flavor sensation.

Who knew fried tofu could be so delicious? I certainly didn’t until I tried some for the first time. And did you know tofu is a surprisingly healthy food? Let’s get started.

Fried Tofu Ingredients

Here’s what you need:

  • Firm tofu
  • Avocado oil
  • Salt
  • Organic cornstarch

That’s it!

Fried Tofu Preparation Steps

First, you will need to drain the tofu and cut it into 4 slices lengthwise. Set them on a clean towel or paper towels, cover with more towels, and set a heavy wait on top to help squeeze the water out. Then, cut each slice in half, then into cubed width wise.

Add them to a bowl with about a third of a cup of corn starch and some salt, gently toss, and set aside. In the meanwhile, heat up about an inch of avocado oil in a saucepan or use a deep fryer (an air fryer would also be fantastic if you have one!). Delicately, add tofu cubes to the hot oil, and cook until crispy, turning them over once if necessary. Set on paper towels to drain, adding salt right away, while you make the next batch.
